What was once a rugged, disused Amberley lime works has been painstakingly transformed into a breathtaking botanical space. As you wander the accessible pathways, you will find lush native New Zealand plantings harmoniously integrated with the sheer rock faces of the quarry.
The landscape itself is a living canvas, offering stunning, panoramic photo opportunities at every turn.
Kinetic Art That Lives and Breathes
Unlike traditional, static art galleries, Iron Ridge is a tactile and interactive environment. The trail is anchored by the monumental kinetic steel sculptures of resident artist Raymond Herber.
Forged on-site, these massive installations are designed to be experienced up close. Watch as heavy steel effortlessly catches the Hurunui wind, taking on a life form of its own as it moves in perfect harmony with the natural environment and the dramatic Canterbury sky.
